Exciting news! The co-chairs of the Congressional Epilepsy Caucus – Representative Greg Murphy, M.D, Representative Jim Costa, Senator Eric Schmitt, and Senator Amy Klobuchar –  will be re-introducing the National Plan for Epilepsy Act on Tuesday, February 11.

They will also be holding a press event and briefing on epilepsy that day from 3-4pm on Capitol Hill. If you live in the DMV area, we hope you will register to attend the event in person at: https://bit.ly/NationalPlanforEpilepsyRSVP

As you may know, the National Plan for Epilepsy Act, which is modeled on national plans for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease that became law, would direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to establish and maintain a National Plan for Epilepsy. The plan would enable necessary federal coordination to ensure a unified approach that would facilitate better outcomes for people with epilepsy and prioritize development of more effective treatments.

In preparation for Tuesday’s event, we are inviting epilepsy community member organizations to sign on in support of this legislation. Interested groups would be added to the attached letter, and your logo may also be added to posters, invitations, or other materials.  To sign your organization on, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/GQuDh2FnXkQ9WJrJ8. Please note that you may need a google log-in to access that form (if you are unable to access it, please email ryaghoubi@efa.org with your organization’s logo).

Sign-ons are due by noon Eastern on Friday, February 7. Unfortunately, due to the short timeline before bill re-introduction, we are unable to make edits to the letter or extend the deadline.

Thank you in advance for your support. It will take all of us working together to pass this important legislation.
